If you’ve never had professional rat control before you may be a bit worried about what it will take. Perhaps you’re envisioning nasty chemical sprays or holes in your drywall.
Fortunately, rodent control can feel almost anticlimactic to most homeowners and business owners once they learn what it actually takes.
Which is good! Nobody wants extra excitement when it comes to issues which impact the safety and value of their property.
Here’s what you need to expect.
A Thorough Inspection
Finding entry points and exit points is the name of the game when it comes to rat control. We search high and low until we find every single one of them.
This is a challenge! Rats can squeeze into spaces no bigger than a quarter. That’s why it’s so hard for homeowners to find all of these locations on their own. It’s even harder for the owners of large commercial buildings!
Installing One-Way Exclusion
Non-lethal traps are one way to remove rats, but we tend to rely more heavily on one-way exclusion.
One-way exclusion means that we’re allowing rodents to leave in search of food and water, but that they can’t regain access to your home. Because we’ve found every single entry and exit point we can make sure that rats leave and get kept out for good.
We can even add bait outdoors that draws rats out of your home rather than encouraging them to stay put.
Sealing
Once we know all the rats are gone, we seal all those entry points for good. After all, rats are smart, and we don’t want to give them time to figure out our one-way exclusion methods.
All of our sealing methods are chew-proof, too!
Chemical Sanitization
We use a cold fog machine to completely sterilize everything the rats have left behind, killing bacteria and eliminating odors. If we’ve caught the rats early enough, our cold fog machine is more than adequate to the task (you don’t want to wait until a rat has died in the walls).
The cold fog machine also helps to mask the scents rats leave behind to attract other rats.
Addressing the Perimeter
Rats are one of the few animals that we deal with in the Houston Metro Area that require two levels of control. Once we get a raccoon out it’s out, but rats tend to return. We’re in an extremely rat-prone area, so we handle the problem with exterior rat control as well.
That means adding rodent bait stations around your perimeter, which control the exterior population well enough to keep them from trying to gain re-entry.
